Houston Fire Department is the third largest fire department in the United States, and the fourth largest city in the United States. Houston Fire Department was established in 1838 as a bucket brigade, the Protection Company #1, all-volunteer fire department. In 1852 Liberty Fire Company #2 was organized. Liberty #2's first engine was a hand engine which was purchased in Boston, MA.


Station 50 has 28 dedicated members, who are ready to risk their lives at any moment to protect and serve their community. Engine 50 has 4 members per 24-hour shift. Medic 50 guarantees prompt response at all times with their team of two members per 24-hour shift.
Engine 50 responds to approximately 3,200 incidents each year. Out of the 3,200 runs Engine 50 responded to, a total of 620 were structural fires. Medic 50 responds to approximately 2,200 incidents each year.
