Legacy forged at Memphis, TN — Every detail tells a story of service
Engine 34's station opened in 1965 at the intersection of several major thoroughfares to shorten response times. The territory itself is an early example of controlled suburban development, starting in 1956, featuring quiet neighborhoods and controlled vehicle traffic. The station is strategically placed near Memphis International Airport and the main FedEx hub.

Engine 34, Emergency Unit (Ambulance) 8, Battalion Chief 8. Several members have hazardous materials and air crash rescue training due to our proximity to the Memphis International Airport.
About 375 calls per month on average. Charles H Vinson was a Private assigned to Engine 34 who died from a heart attack while operating for over 6 hours at Slaughter Brothers Lumber Company on Old Lamar Ave, Dec 19, 1982. The first paramedic LODD in MFD history was Milton Densford from Unit 8 on June 26, 1984. Unit 8 is the only ambulance to have a memorial plaque.
Every month we elevate a firehouse whose story deserves the spotlight. Members receive museum-grade coins and patches backed by the crews who live the job — authentic collectibles with real brotherhood behind them.
