Legacy forged at Ellijay, GA — Every detail tells a story of service
The current Station 1 has been in service since 2008. Nestled in the Apple Capitol of Georgia, this firehouse serves the City of Ellijay, City of East Ellijay, and all of Gilmer County. On August 7th, 2023, the department suffered its first Line of Duty Death — a solemn milestone that has strengthened their commitment to honoring the fallen. Since that date, the department has held a ceremony on every anniversary to remember their fallen brother and all others who have passed.

Battalion, Ambulance, Engine, and Ladder units run out of Station 1. The department maintains an impressive array of specialty training programs including Dive, Drone, SAR with K9, Boat Ops, Rope Rescue, and Swiftwater operations.
Station 1 responds to approximately 120-150 calls per month across 436 square miles of diverse terrain. The department is deeply committed to community outreach through Firefighters for Kid Christmas, providing gifts to underprivileged youth, and Shop with a Hero, pairing local children with public safety personnel for a Christmas shopping event. The biggest operational challenge is the county's topography — 436 square miles of every type of terrain.
Every month we elevate a firehouse whose story deserves the spotlight. Members receive museum-grade coins and patches backed by the crews who live the job — authentic collectibles with real brotherhood behind them.
